lighting
Another important thing about DJing to give the audience a club feel and to get them to get up to dance is to have lighting. When I first started I didn’t have any light but when I get the money up to buy a light or two I noticed a difference in the people’s reaction to my gigs. Now when I say lights I mean like disco balls and moon lights and lasers and all. For the past year now I’ve been using a number of different lights. I have a lighting pole that that hangs over my DJ table where the lights hang from. I have a disco ball that spins, a different color moon light that spins with the music and a couple other lights. I also have a fog machine that I use for some on my gigs when it’s necessary. When I usually do is if a gig wants lights, when I first get there I play music that’s kind of slow and good for when people are eating dinner. After everybody is done dinner I usually make my MC make an announcement, that were going to start the dance music now and we want to see everybody dancing. That’s when the house lights go out and my DJ lights turn on. People usually go nuts and really feel that the party is starting. Using DJ lights really attracts to people that u know how to make your audience happy and leave smiling. If you have been DJing for a while now and want to bring it to the next level put some money into getting some club lights.
70's
Oldies music is great. It is nothing like today’s loud and hip hop feel. 70’s music had its own individual feel to music. Every artist had a different feel to it. Some but there soul and feelings into their songs. Some had vibe and funk. I personally like Earth, Wind, and Fire because of how they combined the band and brass feel with their funk. They have had many songs used in various movies and events across the United States. One of my favorites by them is September. When I'm DJing a party some people wont get up to dance until they hear an 70's song or a disco song. Still today people love to dance to music from the great decade.
Big Gig
This weekend i have a big gig. I'm going up to TCNJ college. I have a friend that goes there that's in a comity serves club/sorority thing and he got me this gig for me. Its a formal/ prom dinner and dance party. As far as i know theirs going to be close to 180 people there in a big hall lol i also got to bring all of my DJ lights and my fog machines. before hand during this week i made a mix that I'm gonna play when everybody is done eating and is ready to dance. these kind of gig i really like DJing because most of the people and teenagers really dance and enjoy the music. Also I like to see everybody dressed up in suits and dresses, even me lol Im just a little nervous because if i do well then the schools going to give me more gigs witch would be great. I'm sure that it will be a awesome gig and everything will go as planed lol I'll let u know!

The Art of a MC
Being a good DJ great and will get u far but to really give a great performance that the people will walk out remembering you is to have or be a great MC. MCing is just about as important as the DJ and has to do a lot of the same things but as the same time different things to. Iv been DJing for a while now but when i got a MC that knew what they were doing and knew how to work the crowd i started to get a lot more gigs and more respect.
To be a good MC u have to be well spoken and very out going and be able to think quick off your feet for what to say. When I DJ I usually start my gigs out with my MC saying some words welcoming the people to be there and announcing the celebration. You want to have somebody that has a good acting voice that sounds very out going and that sounds like there very involved into the party. You don't want somebody that's going to talk like this...
"welcome to the 2008 prom of WTHS, enjoy the music and have a good time, thanks"...
That sounds like there about to go to jail and that their not happy to be there. You want a something like this....
" heyy yoooo WTHS!! hows everybody doing to nighttt?! wel like to welcome you guys and were ready to have a good time, I know you guys are!.. alright now come on i want to see everybody on the dance floor!, here we goo"
that's the kinda sound You want. Trust me when i say that you'll realized that you are gonna need a MC more then u think. It does make a difference and it does keep the people involved.

The Gaga In packed
Today's music has really become something that has a big in packed on the clubs and people. My favorite kind of music has always been dance and trance and club music and i feel that club music has really blown up the past couple years.

One of the most respectful artist that started this i feel was Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga was born in 1986 and if from New York. These past couple years she has blown up the dance club world with a number of Hugh hits, Just Dance, Poker face, Monster, and many more. When I look at lady gaga I can see a start and reminds me of how Madonna was. I also respect her very much because I learned that she is also the producer of her music. all of the synth pads and electric pianos that are in her songs and all written by her. When i play a Gaga song my crowds go nuts. Shes got such a unique sound that just make people want to get up and "just dance". If Lady Gaga did start to move dance and club music back to the top of the charts then a lot of other artist albums wouldn't be as successful like The Black Eye Peas , or Akon. I feel that she is amazingly talented and we will see a lot more from this unique artist.
Numark NS7
For a DJ the equipment you have is very important. the Better equipment u have and know how to use the better performance u give. For about a year now iv had the "Numark NS7" mater controller. I bought there the week it came out. The "NS7" acts as a controlling devise for a program called "Itch" that you ru
n from your computer. Whats good about the NS7 that i liked the most about it is that everything is there for u and together in just one piece. You have your two turntables on the left and right and a mixer in the middle with a amplifier built in, everything is built together in one piece.
Now what i mean when i say controller. is that what this does is "controls" the digital Waves of music from your computer. You plug is right in to your computer and use Itch as the program and u can sat load the songs to either turntable (aka CUE the song) when u load a song to the NS7 now your able to scratch, loop, hot cue, or even have tempo and pitch control to customise your music as you wish. With the real feel of the vinyl turntable is really does feel like your spinning records. Iv had the NS7 for about a year now I feel its the best thing I put my money into. Its a little pricey but its worth it. Theirs no separate pieces and its easy to take around. for a basic gigs at a pool party or a BBQ this is what I recommend to use.
Weddings
one of the most hardest gig that I have to do are weddings. For the first 2 years I didn't do weddings, but then I learned and got conformable doing them. I feel theirs the most important gigs that a DJ has to do because its a very important day that your audience should not forget. Also for Weddings everything has to be right, the time u get there, the music that they want to be played, the names of everybody that's announced. Its a lot of pressure but you learn how to deal with it.
If your gonna be DJing a wedding. It's not just getting up there and playing music. First of all before hand I get pad and paper and get the names of all the people that are in the wedding. This is for if they wont there names to be announced when they walk in or for special songs they want played and to be dedicated to. That's also y its important to have a very good MC with you so they can do all of the talking on the mic while you are taking care of the music. Sec. you have to find out what the bride and grooms song is. that needs to be a very special time for them and You have to give that feeling with the way its announced and the lights and all.
basically the best way to put it is that everything has to be on key and perfect for the People at that celebration. Once you get conformable and u have a understanding of doing weddings there a lot of fun and very good money!
